Happy Canada Day!
Another year and another Canada Day spent in Australia. This year, after several weeks of wintery weather (ok, so it wasn’t so wintery but it was windy and rainy and a bit chilly) the weather looked good and we decided to head up to the Blue Mountains.
After leaving on early Saturday morning we arrived in a town called Blackheath, where we often stop, and decided on a hike. As there had been major bushfires in this area last summer most of the tracks have been destroyed, but luckily a three hour hike into the “Grand Canyon” was open for business. This version is just slightly less grand than the more well known Grand Canyon in Arizona, but nevertheless a beautiful hike. We stayed the night at a bed and breakfast (it was down at 0 degrees in the mountains) before spending Sunday driving around and seeing various sites along a route we hadn’t been through before on our way back to Sydney. I of course was proudly displaying the maple leaf throughout.
